wake up to adventure

It’s been rainy this week, and the forecast is for more rain next week. When the weather is grey and drizmal, I have two choices:
1) curl up on the couch and catch up on my sleep/reading while I wait for nice weather
2) put on my brightest clothes, look for some eye-popping colour or play some snappy music, then go out for an adventure

An adventure is going places. It could be a walk in a nearby park or an unfamiliar neighbourhood. It could be a shopping expedition, or a drive out in the country. It could be a visit with a friend, or going out to dinner or a movie.

Whatever it is, an adventure is something to look forward to, something to do right now instead of waiting for Mother Nature or the Ship of Opportunity to ring your doorbell.

This photo is loud. It’s a wake-up alarm, a call to action. Because I really need to be a little more active. And, you know, I can’t resist red.

  1. Many a time we’ve done the same thing, it’s been raining, but we’ve piled into the vehicle, camera gear as well and headed off, only to arrive to fine weather possibly with sunshine. You just never know and it beats sitting there looking at four walls. I hope you found your adventure.

    • It sounds like you’ve had a lot of experience shaking off rainy weather, Leanne. An adventure with unexpected sunshine is especially good!

I had several adventure today: a stroll uptown with my camera in heavy fog; some shopping; and then home again to watch the newly released “Robin Hood” for an excellent vicarious adventure in jolly old England!

    • You’re right, barefootheart, rainy days are wonderful for recharging. I’ve had some wonderful rest days over the past couple of months since my work contract ended. Now I’m ready to go back to work (hopefully soon) — and that will be another adventure!

  2. Looking at this image, i am reminded of the fact that colour in certain circles is used for therapy. do you have any idea what this represents with regards to personality? looking at certain colours are meant to increase innate capacities that we allow to be latent….
here’s to awakening the latent qualities we all have to be incredible, vibrant, creative creatures. human beings with the capacity to walk in Gratitude for the gift of making meaning of of our moments!!
i may not always respond, but i Do always pop in to see what you are up to!:)

    • Thank you for your wonderful comment yasser! I love warm colours, but I’m not always consciously aware of their effect on me. I looked up the significance of the colour red, and this is some of what I found:

RED relates to the chakra situated at the base of the spine… this chakra relates to self awareness, that is to say our awareness of ourselves as human beings and our place on earth. It is the area of survival and relates to our basic human instincts of fight or flight. Red gives us courage and strength. The colour relates to stability and security… It is stimulating and energising therefore it is helpful for tiredness and lethargy.

      No wonder I like red!
